Privacy Policy

The short version: there are no accounts and we don't ask for your email. The site is supported by advertising and affiliate links; we don't currently run display advertising, so no ad-partner cookies are set here yet — and nothing about that would change which deals we show you or how we rank them.

Who we are

The Undersold ("we", "us") is an independent website operated by Cory Dickes, based in North Carolina, United States, at theundersold.com. Questions: [email protected].

What we collect

• No account information. There are no user accounts, no passwords and no sign-up. We do not ask for or store your email address.
• Standard server logs. Like any website, our server and our network provider record technical information with each request — IP address, browser type, the page requested and the referring page — used to keep the site running and secure.
• Preferences kept on your device. Choices such as filters are stored in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device; they are not transmitted to us and we cannot read them across sites.

What we don't do

• We never let advertising change the deals. No advertiser can buy a placement in the rankings, a better score, or an appearance on the site. Ads sit in ad slots, plainly marked as ads, and the list is ordered by recorded price history and nothing else. This is the one that matters, and it is not negotiable.
• No accounts, no passwords, no email collection, no newsletter.
• We ourselves do not sell your personal information for money.
• We run no analytics platform of our own and set no analytics cookies.

Cookies

Advertising cookies. We don't currently run display advertising, so no advertising-partner cookies are set on this site. If that changes, a partner would set cookies and similar identifiers in your browser to select ads, cap how often you see the same one, and measure whether an ad worked — and this page will be updated first. We do not set analytics cookies of our own. Our network provider (Cloudflare) may set strictly necessary cookies for security and abuse prevention, and some pages are protected by an access-control service that sets a session cookie for authorised users only.

Advertising

This site does not currently run third-party display advertising. If that changes, this section will name the partner before any ad serves, and will describe exactly what they collect and how to opt out.

If we do add a display-advertising partner, they may collect your IP address, device and browser information, the pages you view here, and cookie identifiers, and may use them to show you interest-based ads on this site and elsewhere, as an independent controller of that data — meaning they decide what they collect and how they use it, we do not receive it, and their own privacy policy governs it. Under some US state privacy laws that counts as "sharing" or "selling" personal information for targeted advertising even though no money changes hands for the data itself, and the opt-outs below would apply.

Service providers

We use Cloudflare for DNS, network security and content delivery; it processes request data on our behalf as described above. Product images may be fetched from retailer content-delivery networks and re-served by us, so your browser does not contact those retailers directly when a page loads.

Affiliate links & third parties

When you follow a link to a retailer, you leave this site and that retailer's own privacy policy applies. Where a link is an affiliate link it is routed through our affiliate network so the visit can be credited to us, and the retailer or that network may set a cookie to attribute it. We never receive your payment details, order contents or any personal information from those retailers — only anonymous, aggregated reporting on whether a purchase happened.

Your choices & rights

You can browse without ever telling us who you are — there is no account and no sign-up. Beyond that:

• Opt out of interest-based ads at optout.aboutads.info (DAA) or optout.networkadvertising.org (NAI). You will still see ads; they just stop being targeted.
• Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of sharing for targeted advertising.
• Clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site works fine without them.
• Ad blockers are welcome. We would rather you use the site than not.

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information. Because we hold no account data, such requests will usually concern server logs. Write to [email protected] and we will respond.

Data retention

Server logs are retained only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, then discarded. Price history we collect is about products, not people.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
